How to configure AJAX 3.5 on Sharepoint (MOSS)

One of the current SharePoint problems is that it doesn't include AJAX support by default, but there is a way to configure AJAX to work in your SharePoint, and that is why I'm writing this post.

You have to make some steps to configure it:
Open your sharepoint site configuration file (you should find it at Drive:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\[site port] and add the following to it:

Under the <configsections> tag add:
<sectionGroup name="system.web.extensions" type="System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35">

<sectionGroup name="scripting" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35">

You are now ready to use AJAX controls including the update panel on the SharePoint.
